I enjoyed this one, but I just didn't feel as into it as I did books 1 and 2. For whatever reason, this one came off as kind of bland, and I didn't feel the draw between the two main characters. Lena and Yuri were opposites at first glance, but they had some intrinsic things in common. They both came from tough childhoods to achieve success, and their experiences with that made them who they are today. Yuri is the uber wealthy of the group, a billionaire. Lena does PR. Again though, this book just felt a bit flat to me, even with the excitement and big reveal near the end.
It didn't help that I had read book 2.2, a free snippet of Dimitri, prior to this book. That one contained a massive spoiler for this one, so beware. Read 2.2 after 3.
The writing was good as always, and I will definitely continue the series.
Lena has fought her way to live life on the straight and narrow, after growing up with a father who had a revolving door to prison and a family of crooks, she knew she wanted no part of it. When her job as a PR is sabotaged, she believes she knows who is behind it, Yuri.
Russian billionaire Yuri has wanted Lena since the moment he met her. When she storms in ready to raise holy hell, he quickly handles it and gets her to agree to a date. A rocky start leads to a boggled burglary that puts Lena at risk. Yuri knows she is the one, but Lena is not used to trusting anyone, let alone Yuri. Yuri decides to prove to Lena he is worth the trust knowing he will never let her go.
This was a super fun read, not sure why I did not discover it earlier. Yuri is dangerous but also head over heels for Lena. I liked that the story had some intense moments and then it would have a bit of humor that completely catches you off guard. Picking up the rest of the series.
What can I say except hot hot hot!!!!! And this third installment of the series Russian protectors we learn a little bit about the hell that the four boys went through in their childhood. And understanding that little bit of information you will understand the plot or what's going on behind the scenes in the story.
The author was totally brilliant while you're reading you think the stories going one way you think you understand the drama that it's unfolding around you and then just when you think you have it figured out you don't and you find the bigger picture behind what's going on.
You also get a closer view of Lena in the first two books you see her as a strong-willed dominant alpha female. Independent she waits for no man but in this story you see that truly it's only a façade.
As always the love scenes are very steamy and hot it will burn your e-reader as you read it. And once again though the stories link up through the characters the drama that unfolds is different from the previous two books.
I really enjoy the series and can't wait to read the next book. I'm so glad I stumbled upon the free first copy of Ivan the Russian protector because that is one book I definitely would pay for and I don't mind paying the price for these books.
If you enjoy alpha males steamy love scenes drama subterfuge you will enjoy this series!!!
I've bought and read this whole series on my don't ereader, but that went can put and I lost all of those books. So I re-purchased my favorite books. This series is among those re-purchased.
Yuri and Yelena's story is so sweet, so suspenseful, and so good. I liked that Lena was strong, smart, protective and vulnerable. I don't remember, a good physical description of either characters. Maybe that was in those previous novels.
But despite that I loved this story and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Pretty damned good read.
This one has Lena Cruz, a PR whiz, trying to do her job.
Her boss stole her ideas for the 716 club and promptly went over to the FAZE club and peddled em.
The owner of FAZE is Yuri Novakovsky a billioinaire. He hired her old boss which left Lena scrambling to increase revenue for club 716. Her employers are less that pleased and she's taking the heat for her boss's theft.
Lena is a beauty but she's also tough as nails. She's called Dragon Lady by the bouncers at 716. She also has no love for Novakovsky. A man she thinks stole her ideas.
Yuri on the other hand would like to get to know Lena much better. She's a woman he's been interested in since the day he first saw her.
Lena pulled herself out of poverty. Lena has a criminal Father and a Mother who abandoned them both. Lena is a whiz at PR and Yuri tries to hire her. She's not interested in working for a man she considers an enemy.
Yuri is a self made billionaire which business interests around the globe. He's also one good guy. A guy who has no problem spending money to help friends. Many of his friends are Russians. Russians who were teammates in Speznatz.
Yuri finally gets Lena to speak with him.
So begins one damned fine read.
This one has Yuri, Lena, Ivan, Nicolai, Kostya, Lenas cousin, Vivian, the head of a Mexican drug cartel, a stolen painting, a giant dog named Sasha, bodyguards, betrayal, Nicolai and Yuri's dark history, a woman seeking revenge, a shootout and Yuri and Lena getting it right.
Five Stars and then some.
